I'm from Mpumudde in Jinja. For three years I ran an MTN Mobile Money counter on Main Street, and a good part of each day was people asking me to send cash to a number out of a WhatsApp group, usually with a promise that some code would double it. Not one of those numbers belonged to the operator.

The way each figure is tested
Licence numbers are checked against the operator's own pages and the NLGRB register. Bonus figures come only from 22bet's Ugandan pages, with the date they were read. Codes and agent numbers out of chat groups never go in.
